About SEA

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the gateway to the Pacific Northwest. The airport was constructed in 1944 to replace Boeing Field, which the military had commandeered for use during World War II. Commercial operations began in 1947, and the current terminal was built in 1959. The runways were upgraded and lengthened to accommodate larger aircraft and increased passenger traffic. Today, the airport has 64 gates that serve almost 33 million passengers annually. More than 25 airlines provide flights to destinations in North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Most international flights are based in the South Terminal. Passengers can access all gates after clearing the security checkpoint.

The airport is fully handicap accessible and has complimentary Internet access, a consolidated rental car facility, banking facilities and a children's play area. Electric car recharging stations, short-term and long-term parking is available in the garage.

There are numerous works of art displayed throughout the airport. The exhibits are by local and international artists. The in-terminal music is the work of local musicians.

Attractions

Getting Around

Visitors arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will find major rental car agencies located on the lower level near the baggage claim areas. Rental cars are picked up and dropped off at the main terminal garage. read more
